Sports Massage, Myofascial Release

Sports massage:

Sports massage is a targeted, science-based therapy used to treat soft tissue issues caused by intense or repetitive activity. It aims to:

Techniques include deep tissue manipulation, trigger point work, and advanced neurophysiological methods such as PNF, NMT, MET, STR, and others. Treatments may be uncomfortable at first, especially in affected areas, but improve with consistency.

Massages are tailored to your specific needs and area of discomfort. While effective, it's not a cure-all—regular stretching and strengthening, especially of postural muscles, are key to long-term health and alignment.

Deep Tissue Massage:

Stress, poor posture, long travel, intense workouts, and computer use can lead to muscle imbalances like stiffness, spasms, pain, headaches, and RSI. Alongside stretching, deep tissue massage helps relieve pain and dysfunction in areas like the back, neck, and limbs by targeting deep muscle layers and trigger points.

Though it may cause discomfort—especially where adhesions exist—massage pressure can be adjusted. It stimulates circulation, releases metabolic waste, and may result in soreness lasting up to two days, particularly during initial sessions.

While effective, deep tissue massage isn’t a cure-all. For lasting results, incorporate regular stretching and back-strengthening exercises to improve posture and reduce muscle fatigue.

Benefits of Deep Tissue Sports Massage

Sports Injuries - Back pain – Sciatica – Neck pain – Frozen shoulder – Tennis elbow – Muscle spasm & cramps – RSI Repetitive Strain Injury - Achilles tendonitis - Knee problems - Hamstring and calf strains - Groin strain – Foot & leg injuries - Whiplash - Postural problems – Arthritis – Hip pain – Headaches/Migraine – Numbness – Muscle spasms, Muscle strains, ligament strains, tight muscle, Sciatica, Myofascia pain, Chronic Pain  etc

Trigger Point Massage:  is used as a pain-relief technique to alleviate muscle spasms and cramping.

Combined positioning and specific finger or thumb pressure into "trigger/tender point" in muscle and connective tissue reduces hypersensitivity, muscle spasm and referred pain patterns that characterise the point.

Trigger points are formed in muscles which have been damaged and left untreated resulting in re-occurring spasms that worsen painfully when aggravated. Such trigger/tender points lead to restricted and painful movement of entire body regions.

The main aim of this treatment is to reduce spasm and inducing new blood flow into the affected area.

Spasms physically reduce blood flow to the trigger point area (ischaemia), which reduces oxygen supplies to the tissues and thus increases the spasm.
